Organisational change refers to change which modifies the actual set up of the organisation in terms of, organisational structure, technology, culture, workforce, sourcing etc. The changes may vary according to the needs of the organization and its goals. The organization change can be depicted in short term as well as long term goals. The changes are to be brought according to the change model - unfreezing, movement and refreezing.

Short-term Goals:

The changes which can be identified and rectified within a period of 2 years are short term organizational change which is required to meet the immediate demand. The organizational changes take place in short terms are work force, demography, sourcing, reinforcement and identification of problem within the organization to achieve the vision of the organization. It also includes the changes which are taken place to meet the immediate demand. The short term changes are analysed with the help of each and every head of the department. The problems stated and solutions provided to overcome the same within the organisation are the need for organizational change in short term. The short term takes place when the organisation feels the state of emergency to meet the future demand.

Workforce – The roles and responsibilities carried by each individual belong to the organization are to be changed in terms of timing, structure and the environment of the workplace.

Production scheduling – Preplan the production process and identify the requirement in prior to meet the production in time.

Sourcing- Identify the way of sourcing ( in-sourcing or out-sourcing)

Culture – the culture of the organization are identified and adopted according the location of the organization and the principle employers of the management.

Demography – The factor which affects the organization change like gender, age, population. The organization may in need of young and energetic people who is well familiarized with the advanced technology, which can’t meet the same with old people.

To have a smooth run of an organization for a short term, it is suggestible to make changes of the above said factors

Long term Goals:

The changes needed to takes place throughout the organization for a long period of time more than at least a minimum of 5 years are long term needs. The long term needs of organizational changes are strategy, technology, creating trends, Political issues, organization structure etc.

Strategy of the organization – the strategy changes will have contribution from the entire organization and it brings different perceptive. Based on the strategy the organization create its own identity among the competitors

Technology – the technology changes are brought to meet the demands in advanced manner and in short duration which will create competitive advance in the market

Creating trends – People are more likely to accept changes frequently. In order to meet their requirements and to retain them towards the organization it is must to create a trend. To ensure the uniqueness of the organization and to sustain for a long period of time.

Political Issues – When an organization decide to sustain for a long period of time, it must to be ready to meet the political consequences or even when they expand the market the proper planning and forecasting has to be done

Organisation structure – the changes in responsibility and roles of the managerial people and administrators has to be made to ensure the creative and innovative ideas

The barriers of an organizational changes are either external factors or internal factors. The external Factors are competitors, Strategy, Trends, political problems, technology changes, Opportunity available and Threats. The internal Forces are less coordination among the employees, ineffectiveness, resistance of change, workforce diversity, organizational structure etc.

The internal forces taken place within the organization are easy to identity rather than the external forces. It can be identified by regular supervision. Once it is identified take proper measures to eliminate the same. The improper coordination and ineffectiveness can be avoided by proper training and development. The resistance to accept changes are one of the most complex situation to be handled. It will have direct or indirect impact in the organizational structure. In order to overcome such situation understand the behavior of the employees and their perspective towards the changes. Change their perception about the changes by providing proper guidance and let them feel they are also the part of the organization and it benefit their own needs. The Workforce diversity is clearly visible and it is easy to bring changes according to the business of the organization while comparing to other factors. The behavior of the employees are the most important factor to be understood to overcome the internal forces of the organizational changes.

To overcome the barriers of the organizational changes, ensure the following activities. Meet the competitive advantage by creating uniqueness of the organization business and bring changes in the strategy of the organization. The changes in the strategy should not be disclosed at any cost. Be the maker of trend setting in the market to enjoy the competitive advantage. Create a special team or have an agent to handle the political issues and make sure it doesn’t affect the business of the organization. The changes in technology within the organization or outside the organization will always be a barrier. To overcome such barrier provide proper training to the employees and develop them according to the technology changes takes place. Adequate training will helps to overcome such barrier. The changes brought down by the competitors are always a threat to the business entity which we have owned. By overriding the threats will helps to create a new opportunity
