Sexual assault is an act in which a person intentionally sexually touches another person without that person's consent, or coerces or physically forces a person to engage in a sexual act against their will.Post traumatic syndrome associated with sexual assualt can lead to intense phsyiological distress and affet mental health.
Post trauma syndrome of sexual abuse has been correlated with higher levels of depression, guilt, shame, self-blame, eating disorders, somatic concerns, anxiety, dissociative patterns, repression, denial, sexual problems, and relationship problems.
Depression has been found to be the most common long-term symptom among survivors.
Many survivors experience sexual difficulties.
Short term Goals;
1.Increase the ability to talk openly about the feelings of the sexual abuse, reflecting acceptance of the abuse.

2.Eliminate feelings of shame by allowing client to be able to verbally affirm self as not responsible for abuse
