undoubtedly the president plays an important role in representing the entire nation. president plays a role model in citizens view and he should have innumerous qualities to lead and in tackling various situations.
now coming back to the question- why do unpopular presidents tend to be less effective?
there could be more than one reason for this situation-
LACK OF CONFIDENCE- when the president is unpopular then people don't have the full confidence in their leader and therefore they even doubt on the steps and undertaken by the president.
LACK OF SUPPORT- Unpopular president don't get the full support of the public.that's the main cause for the formulation and implementation of the planning.
LACK OF EFFECTIVENESS - unpopular president words won't wonder until the people are ready to listen willingly therefore this becomes another challenge for the unpopular president to lead the nation.
BIASNESS - the concept of biasness can't be avoided due to the favoring nature and term. Some times due to the unavailability of rational opinion the president effort couldn't be evaluated properly.
CRITICISM- unpopular president is always surrounded by the concept of criticism and this can't be avoided due the positioning of the level. therefore this stress also create an excess burden over the president so he/she can't take decision freely and always tries to make decision which is influenced by the general public.
but we can't deny the fact that popularity doesn't ensure efficiency and unpopular president is not needed to be inefficient in prejudice manner.
