Digital ditectors are of two types direct and indirect systems.Direct digital detectors helps to transforms the x-ray photons directly into eletrical charge for a clear digital image. A photoconductor is used to set the electrons free which helps in the conversion of photons to electrical charge. Semiconductors like silicon, amorphous selenium and many more are used in solid state detectors to detect the x-rays. Inditect systems have many steps such as first the the photons are converted into visible light then it is converted to electronic image.
The image quality in radiology is very important as it helps to extract the maximum number of information. The sharpness of the image is very essential for perfect imahe quality. some factors like radiographic density, contrast of the image, distortion and magnification, resolution and latitute of the xray flim helps to maintain the image quality in radiology.
An x-ray is a radiographic erquipment. It required a heated cathode tube for emmision of electrons, a glass screen, a copper anode with a tungsten target and a beryllium window to filter out the protons. X-ray helps to detect any disease like fracture, unusual swelling, detect cancer and many more.
