4. Based on what you learned about the differences between IgM and IgG antibodies, which class of antibody is detectable in a person that acquired an infection and recovered from it naturally?
5. Name three other classes of antibodies besides IgM and IgG.
6. How do we test for current SARS-CoV-2 infections?
7. How do we test for past SARS-CoV-2 infections?
8. What arm of the immune response is detected by serologic testing methods?
4.Difference between IgG and IgM on the basis of which antibody is detected in person that aquired infection and recovered from it naturally. First antibody produced and protect against the infection is IgM which is the largest antibody and produced first at the site of infection and fight against the infection and it's concentration is 5% to 10% to all antibodies present in blood and lymph fluid in body. IgG is the smallest antibody and take time to produced after infection and it is most abundant antibody in blood and concentration is 75% to 80% in all antibodies in blood and after naturally recovery of patient IgG is present in blood and fight against the infection.
5.IgA : It is present in dimer form and found in the mucosal linning of respiratory tract, digective tract, ears, eyes and vagina. It also present in tears, saliva and blood. It protect from the outside pathogen by trapped into the mucous.Total concentration is 10% to 15% in all antibodies in body.
IgE: It is present in monomer form and reacts against the allergen like pollen, medicine and some poison. it is found in skin, lungs, mocous membrane and most aboundant in person who have allergies.
IgD:It ia also present in monomer form and its function is unknown. It is present in very small amount and fount in tissue that line chest and belly.
6. We test for current SARS-CoV-2 infections by real time PCR using primer specific for SARS-CoV2 virus and sample collected from the taking cotton swap from the upper respiratory tract of patient and processe for RNA isolation of virus and do the real time PCR to confirm the virus infection.
7. We test for past SARS-CoV-2 infections by serological testing or antibody test which tell us about the specific antibody present against the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the blood of individual which is past infected with virus. Antibodies are very specific against the virus and fight against the infection and which protect against the reinfection with same pathogen.
8.Specific immunoglobulins like IgM and IgG are the arm of the immune response is detected by serologic testing methods. IgM is detected in pateint may have been infected recently and still have the infection and recovering. It is a first antibody produced after infection and IgG is a antibody after some time of infection and in the blood after recover from infection and it also protect from the reinfection of same pathogen. These two antibodies are detected by serological test afte infection.Which is very specific to bacteria and virus.
