describe the three types of testing , Does the type of testing based in the material studied ? you asking a teacher
The three types of assessment are as follows:
1. Formative Assessment: This occurs in the short term when students are in the process of learning and meaning of new content, while integrating it into what they already know. Feedback given to the student is immediate so that the student can alter their learning strategies right away.
2. Interim Assessment: This takes place periodically throughout a larger time duration and tend to be more formal, using tools such as projects, written assignments, and tests. These assessments should help identicy gaps in student understanding and instruction, while giving students enough time still to re-demonstrate their understanding after the feedback.
3. Summative Assessment: This takes place at the end of a large chunk of learning, with the results being primarily for the teacher's or school's use. The results of these assessments are used to see where the student's performance lies compared to either a standard or to a group of students. These assessments also tend to have the maximum weightage while determining the student’s overall performance.
To some degree, the type of testing is based on the material studied. What type of assessment a teacher should use is determined by what point in time it is conducted and to what degree progress has been made with respect to the course material.
