What is the DNA chain/thread read in the transcript?

What is the DNA chain/thread read in the transcript?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans- Transcription is the process of synthesis RNA from DNA. DNA is double-stranded, but only one strand of DNA used as a template (minus strand) for transcription process. And this template strand of DNA is called non- coding strand. And, the other non-template (plus strand) strand of DNA is called coding strand because it's sequence will be same as that of new RNA transcript. Hence, During transcription process only one strand of DNA used as template strand for RNA synthesis that is called as non-coding strand. RNA polymerase enzyme read template strand (minus strand) of DNA for RNA transcript synthesis.
