Amidst the current pandemic, how can supermarkets adjust how they go to market on grocery product categories such as grab-and-go/convenience items?
With the wake of Covid 19 pandemic , the supply and demand nornals have changed , as a result of precaution and constant distancing . The disease has taken over the world and activities like self seclusion and social distancing is the only shot to survive this spreading disease. Thus a major lifestyle change is being observed in the market.
Having discussed the basic change patterns in the economies all over the world , the suppliers are constantly working on alternative to maintain position in the market. It is not just a constant try of the producers to think of alternative in order to survive in this pandemic, consumers also need workable institutions in order to support their day to day needs . The major example to this is grocery stores in super markets.
Grocery involves Daily day to day items which are required , example food items , non food items , drinks , soaps, toilet papers , daily need oils , suppliments etc. The old walk in purchase system could not be practiced , hence these supplying chains came up with grab and go convenience , drop off at home services by online ordering etc. There services came in touch with the consumers directly . The payments are done through online means . Not just this, the consumers are facilitated with pre ordering feature . The facility lets the consumer decide before hand and when he visits the location , the goods are already packed and the whole process and very swift.
The above activities were being developed before the pandemic also. What must be noticed here is that , even though earlier it was developed only with a convenience factor , now these e services and quick pic and drop services are the only substitute and the only alternative which is safe during the social distancing times.
