- explain the antiglobalization concept.
Anti-globalization, the social movement that arose against capitalist globalization at the turn of the 21st century, a paradigm of globalization focused on the pursuit of unfettered capitalism and free trade.
Multinationals suspected misuse of corporate control is the main subject of political activism. Large corporations with international undertakings are charged with social injustice, unfair labor practices including slave labor wages, living and working conditions , lack of concern for the environment, mismanagement of natural resources, and environmental damage. Demonstrations of anti-globalization have attained support worldwide in part because the target, per se, is its members, and its consequences are of a global nature. Big brands, including Adidas, Starbucks, McDonalds, and Shell Oil, are key targets, perhaps because of their huge marketing campaigns
The Internet has had a profound effect in part by providing the basis for radical change by allowing activists to organise demonstrations and protests worldwide quickly and easily, if necessary. Individuals and organizations can now set deadlines, exchange experiences, embrace obligations, organize logistics and undertake a myriad of other activities that in the past would have been difficult to manage quickly and readily. On the same date and time, international protests and demonstrations can be coordinated, so that a series of protests can be held in concert.
The Web has had a tremendous effect, providing the basis for radical change, partially by allowing activists to coordinate marches and protests rapidly and effectively, globally if necessary.
Protests and demonstrations against globalisation, will continue. Indeed, many non-associated groups will seize the anti-globalization theme as a convenient rationale for engaging in demonstrations, making it difficult to predict security needs accurately. Organizers of conferences, security agencies and law enforcement staff will have to accept that reality and the inherent challenge which will require adequate contingency planning. Sound intelligence structures would be essential for the effective implementation of precautionary measures, in particular to avoid mistakes in over- or under-commitment of resources and to prevent punitive responses or steps that would promote violent reaction from protestors
