GEOLOGY TO CIVIL ENGINEERING
geology is a study of earth and rocks, basic knowledge of geology is very important for civil engineers for the success of the project. engineers must know about the properties of land on which project started. geologist studies the eland to examine whether it is safe or not from a construction point of view. geologist also studies theatre flow pattern below the earth surface, also study the site which is prone t flooding. civil engineers study the rocks for the extraction of gases and oils and minerals.
ROLE OF CIVIL ENGINEER IN EXAMING AND INVESTIGATING GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERS OF SITE.
Minimum knowledge of geology and site exploration that engineer must know.
1. preliminary investigation of the site on the basis of existing data
2.detailed geological survey of the site along with photography.
3.geophysical survey to examine the subsurface profile
4.boring, drilling and excavation for qualitative and quantitative details.
IDEAS ADDED ON THIS DISCUSSION
an electric resistivity test data can correlate the bore log data, so that, by knowing the resistivity data of any depth we can predict the subsurface profile. and we can know about the subsurface profile of that depth.
