The population structure of Ghana change structural
transformation with a decline in fertility from 1980s. This having
high social, political and economic impact. The fertility decline
and high growth determine the number of births women and the size
of next generation. The old age population increased at the same
time. The fertility reduced through high usage of contraceptives
and the rising proportion of women who preferred for small family.
This low level of fertility attained through the higher education
level and equality in the economy. The education system was opened
for women will leads to the increase in gender equality in
employment opportunity.
The entire social structure transformation helped the stability in
the population system. There is general awareness among the women
helped them to select their lives and also having equality in the
preference for children. There was a greater decline in the
fertility rate from 6.4 percent of children per women to 5.5
percent. The female participation in all the social and economic
activities in Ghana develops the condition of the women in the
society. The public policies by the Ghana government were focused
on the lower population level and stable economic development. The
higher education system create awareness among the people about the
use of contraceptives.
