Answer:
Cities are being viewed as the engine of growth and development in 21st century but in the current event of coronavirus pendamic has exposed downside of urbanization in following ways:

  • Cities are too much dependent on rural areas for their basic needs that when lockdown was implemented its systems started collapsing in few weeks.
  • The population density of cities are way to high compare to rural areas, so they became super spreader of this corona virus pendamic.
  • Also Cities globally are more linked among each other. People travel from one part of the city to another part of the world quite often compare to its counter rural parts, so they became gateway for spreading coronavirus in their respective states.
  • Another downside of the Cities are it was not planned to handle so many people how much are staying there, so hospital systems starts collapsing in most of countries in cities.
  • Long term planning and sustenance was never thought by city planning commitee and covid-19 virus has exposed the same to the world.
