A:

generally pile foundations are deep foundations which are used for depth about 10 to 15 m or for soil having bearing capacity low.

Hence for depth 3-5m end bearing capacity can be used.

End bearing piles : these type of piles are most basic in nature. They transfer the load over them to underlying bearing stratum with its tip which is then transferred to soft soil or water. Though there will be some friction in it too but the load carried by friction is very less than that by end tip or point bearing.

This rest on hard stratum i.e bedrock.

Load carrying capacity of bearing pile= bearing capacity of soil * area of tip of pile

B:

Piles used in clay: piles in clay uses friction as there main load carrying factor hence friction piles are used and they carry load by skin friction.

Qu=qup*Ab+fsAs ( mazor load is carried by friction itself)

Friction piles are those piles which take frictional resistance i.e skin friction of material along the surface area of pile to carry load . these piles are also known as floating piles as they do not rest on hard stratum i.e bed rock.

Skin friction= unit skin friction resistance * surface area of pile in contact of soil.
