We see that an operating system can be viewed as an "overall framework," as it were, for a piece of computing equipment to understand everything about itself. Without an operating system, a computer is just a collection of physical electronic components, disconnected from its surroundings and unable to operate at all.

  • For the Christian, what would you say our "operating system" is? What sort of analogy can you form regarding your "personal operating system" in life?
  • Try and form a more or less direct analogy between a computer operating system and your faith.

As we know brain works as an "Operating System"(OS) for humans . As machines are nothing but a electronics device which can't be used for any processing or computing if we remove operating system from it same as human body is just a dummy without human OS i.e. our brain.

For machines OS works as an interface or we can say a communication medium between user and computer just like brain is a medium between human body parts and their working. Our OS controls all our activities, actions, and reactions same as machine OS controls machine's tasks, computing and working.

For machines OS manages it's resources, memory, devices attached to it same as for humans brain manages body parts, their movements and functionality. Brain makes decision for humans by observing current circumstances and analysing situation similarly OS makes decision for computer by analysing current status of different resources and memory.

If we remove OS from computer then it loses all it's qualities similarly if we remove brain(Human OS) from humans then human is nothing but a dummy which can't do anything by their own.

Explain why an operating system can be viewed as a resource allocator. Direct memory access is used for high-speed I/O devices in order to avoid increasing the CPU’s execution load. a) How does the CPU interface with the device to coordinate the transfer? b) How does the CPU know when the memory operations are complete? c) The CPU is allowed to execute other programs while the DMA controller is transferring data. Does this process interfere with the execution of the...

In chapter 25 we see the process of how monetary policy affects the overall economy. The transmission mechanisms show the variables that change when the Fed takes action. Without identifying the 9 channels by name, identify the variables that change when the Fed initiates policy. Then explain how changes in these variables affect aggregate demand. Finally, explain what happens to real GDP. Look at this as a chain reaction. In your answer assume the Fed initiates an expansionary monetary policy...

Before we get to the responses, we can put a theoretical framework around the idea of taxing capital incomes (whether income from assets or capital gains). The main targets for raising tax revenue are labour income, capital income, and consumption. These taxes are all imposed on households, but we should expect that they will elicit different behavioural responses. From the perspective of the household, taxes influence the decision about how much to work and how much to save. To keep...

The overall effectiveness of a health system can be measured in a number of different ways. Health outcomes are an obvious measure and one that is tied directly to access to quality clinical care. The tracking of health outcomes involves tracking the progress of patients who present a chronic condition, such as hypertension, and then measuring the results after drug therapy and lifestyle changes. Additionally, patient satisfaction is a reasonable measure of the effectiveness of a health system. Measures of...

We are attempting to see if we can justify the additional expense of premium fuel over economy; i.e., we will only use premium fuel if we are convinced that it actually helps mpg. For each of the 25 cars at our disposal, we randomly picked one fuel to use first, drove the car until nearly empty, and calculated mpg when refilling the tank. We then filled it with the other fuel, repeating the process, obtaining mpg for that fuel, driving...

Eight people were on a special diet to lose weight. We are testing to see if the diet actually works. We are going to do a Wilcoxon test. Please calculate the Wilcoxon T statistic. The critical value is 3. It is a two-tailed test with α = .05. Then come to a conclusion about the effectiveness of the diet.
