In a short essay of 500-1000 words, describe some of theme’s associate with customers privacy and lack of security in regards to business ethics. How can both of these theme's affect a business negatively?
Business ethics is considered to be the law the organisations should follow considering the employees as fellow human beings and honouring their self respect and self esteem. It also helps the organization to deal with the moral issues arising in the organization in an ethical way. The conduct of the individual is very important for a company to have a good reputation in the industry. The employees has to be made aware of the ethics of the job they are doing so that they may not involve themselves in any mode of unethical practices. By inculcating the ethical responsibility to the employees, the organization is indirectly making the employees more responsible economically and socially there by making them responsible citizens of the state.
Customers privacy is the most vital part of the business ethics and ironically the most violated ones. The customer to any business has the right to keep their personal as well as the official information private and the business ethics law agrees to it. Any type of business whether it be an online site, banks, hotels, shopping centers demands the customers to furnish their personal details like email, phone number etc. This is given by the customers under the belief that the information given would be safe and will not be misused. It becomes the responsibility of the company to take care of that by making the database hacker free and educating the employees not to reveal the details to the outside source at any cost. If this happens as per the law then the company can be claimed to be running ethically.
Security to the service rendered form another part of the ethical problems in the business. No customer would prefer a business that does not guarantee proper security to the product or the services. The security in business comes in a wide range of levels. It can be the security to the products kept in the locker of a bank, security to the products to be delivered, security to the details given by the customers on the online site or website. Every customer would look for an assurance from the company side to make them proceed with the services of the company. In the competitive business market only those organizations rendering good services could survive. In that regard security to the commodities and services becomes mandatory.
The lack of these ethical themes can have an adverse effect on the success of the business. Let it be the first theme of customer privacy or the lack of security. The customer privacy as discussed above becomes the fundamental right of the customer. The customers give their personal details to the organizations believing the company's ethics of protecting it. If the details are leaked out to some other outsiders the customers have the right ot sew the organization. If some thing like that happens the reputation of the company would be destroyed and the customer will have to be paid in lump sum as compensation. This would affect the business and the company will find it difficult to source new customers.
Any breach in the security norms of the company is considered to be illegal irrespective of the business field, whether it be the security to the information or to the product or services. Lack of security to the information shared by the cusomers can end up in very serious legal issues and may end up in losing the customer. The sensitive information shared by the customers to any financial organizations if dealt with lack of security can lead to criminal case against the organications. The security to the product and services is also very important so is the safety of the employees working in the organization. Any accidents or mishappenings in the organization due to lack of security can eventually led to the shutting down of the company by the government.
The organizations to have a good business and reputation in the market, will have to follow the rules and regulations of the business law. Ethics forms the most important among them as an organization can be considered to be successfull only if has met the ethical standards as well.
