Q3: How resource utilization can be ensured in a construction project? Also, discuss how it will affect the
project performance?

The resource utilization and there affects on the construction project and there performance are :-

1. Efficient utilization of labour i.e analysing an activity and knowing the labour requirements to perform that activity in proper and efficient way.

Doing this reduce the labour cost to some extent and improve the quality of work in a project.

Example:- Normally at construction site , at the time of concreting the contractor put heavy labour force in the single activity (i.e concreting) without any proper human resource management. This leads to increase in labour cost and increase the chance of mistake as many hands are involve in the same work.

2. Efficient utilization of material i.e avoiding the wastage of material. Proper material handling is also ensured in construction project. It includes procurement, inventory management etc. which requires special attention for cost reduction.

Example :-a) Normally at construction site , welders doesn't use the full length of welding rods, which leads to the wastage of welding rods.

b) Pre- procurement of material before there requirement leads to increase in inventory or storage cost etc.

3. Efficient utilization of equipment,

It is done by categorizing the equipments on the basis of there important and frequency of requirement in different class and accordingly take required preventive measures to avoid there breakdown and reducing there idle time.

Everyday analysis of each equipment and machineries which are present at site is done by taking there meter reading , hour running time etc.

Now a days most of the construction works are done by the help of machine. Hence, proper preventive measure taken for machines can improve the project performance drastically.

We also look over on the fuel requirements of the machine to avoid the gap time or idle time .
