3. Explain the process of how the nervous system can cause the
release of a hormone and provide an example of the
process.
The Nervous system and Endocrine system together controls and regulates the functions of body. The Nervous system consists of nerve cells which passes electrical signals all over the body whereas the endocrine system consists of glands which secreates and releases chemical substances known as Hormones.
At the lower part of the brain, there is Hypothalamus which acts as a connection between Nervous and Endocrine system. This Hypothalamus produces stimulating and inhibiting hormones which controls the pituatory glands which inturn controls other glands. The hormones from the Hypothalamus triggers the releasing or inhibiting of hormones from pituatiry glands which then controls all other hormone releasing. So the hormones produced by Hypothalamus is controlled by two sets of nerve cells within them. The first set produces anti-diuritic hormones and oxytoxin. second set of nerve cells produce the stimulating and inhibiting hormones in the hypothalamus.
