Nigeria is a country witnessing population increase. Unfortunately, as the population grows, so does the unemployment rate. Unemployment is mainly seen in the age group of 17-25. The one main reason is the population rise. Another main reason is the lack of quality education for the youth. They are not getting the skills required in the working sector. Poor academic curriculum affects them from job opportunities.

As a part of the measure against unemployment, the government earlier promoted youth to public related jobs and in agriculture. The main sector in income is oil in the country. The government introduced many plans to address unemployment. Few such programs include  SURE-P, YOU-WIN, O'YES.

This SURE-P program provided a year internship program for educated youth . Many firms provided this opportunity. These firms have to meet some government proposed criteria to participate in the program.

The YOU-WIN program promoted job opportunities in entrepreneurship .Government supported youth for their startups.This way almost 30% of the unemployment is reduced prior to earlier.

The O'YES program provided many opportunities as securities,environment officials and other services
