Do you think that there is the difference between sex and gender? Why or why not? Provide reasons.
Are both sex and gender or just one of the two, or neither, biological truths?
Are both sex and gender, or just one of the two, or neither, socially constructed truths?
What do you mean by truth? How would you go about having a philosophical debate with someone who did not hold the same view as you?
There is a difference between sex and gender. Sex is the biological make-up of a person and it could be male or female but today we are also talking about the transgender who changed their biological make-up. On the other hand gender on the other hand is the social roles that are preset in the society such as male and female but today we also have the LGBTQ community that choose to be that way through their internal awareness of their gender.
Sex and gender are both different concepts because the primary difference lies in the anatomy of the person in terms of sex but when it comes to gender, they could choose to be and do any role. A male can choose to play the role of a female and a female could choose to play the role of a male.
Sex is the natural make-up while gender is purely a social construct where the roles are very specific and male and female are constantly reminded of their gender and the roles assigned to them. Anything which goes against this societal norms was considered as deviance but today, society has accepted the deviance through the LGBTQ community.
Truth is to assert things as they are without modifying the facts, so, it should told as it is. Anything that alters the reality is not truth because truth is naked and if one tries to dress it up, then one is cooking a story and it’s not truth. Truth is the centrality of almost all the religions and they all expect their followers to be truthful which means, they need to pay respect to people, beliefs and the practices thus being truthful to truth.
