Is implicit bias related to anything meaningful?
How to measure the Implicit attitude?
Whats is Explicit Attitude? And how to measure it?
The word implicit tends to describe something which is unconscious or outside of one’s complete awareness. Implicit bias therefore describes a bias or a prejudice held against something which is not entirely conscious in nature. In other words, it’s a rather automated process. The reason it matters is because the way we operate in our environment and our manner of functioning is highly dependent upon these implicit belief systems, values, stereotypes or biases. They can be measured through certain tools or scales especially designed to decipher them. For instance, the implicit attitude test is something that attempts to form associations between concepts and attributes. Explicit attitude on the other hand is something that is in one’s conscious awareness and is explicitly shown in the behaviour or actions as well. These are relatively easier to self report as well due to their conscious nature. They can be further measured by using scales designed to establish them
