Yes nurses get biases towards some of their patients and even they will admit this. The best thing to fix this is to recognise this and should reassess how you feel and your approach towards this. Inherent bias is a human trait which is done subconsciously and that's why interfere with the best nursing practices. If the nurse recognises her inherent bias towards community then she can understand ,address and dealt to provide best possible medical care.

How to fix this:

By acknowledging the problem. Without acknowledgement no problem can be solved. By understanding the problem comes the acceptance of accountability . Medical care provider should suppress this subconscious bias and foster the positive behaviour.

Personal awareness is important because the nurses can keep check on their behaviour if they know about their biased behaviour and can stay on the right path .

It is very crucial to understand the circumstances of the patient and to provide empathy towards them. By understanding the problem of patients health professionals can provide better health care.

Patient should be able to sense that their nurse is intended to provide best medical treatment. Nurse should advocate for patient with compassion,professionalism and communicate with other health care providers to support patients need.

Nurses can educate others daily to raise awareness about subconscious bias and the ways to avoid them.
