How do you classify water distribution based on road orientation and geography of the area?
According to road orientation and geography of an area , the water distribution is classified on the following basis:
i) Dead- end or tree distribution system: This is a simple distribution system, in which a main pipeline goes through the centre of the area and then sub-main lines are branch off from the main line. Then sub main branch are divided into nany branch lines. Dead end is provided at terminal of the lines.
ii) Gridron distribution system : In this distribution system, the main line goes through the centre of the area and other sub-main lines are branch off perpendicularly, the branch lines are also connected perpendicularly from sub-main lines. There is no dead end and is ideal for cities which have rectangular plan.
iii) circular or ring distribution system : In this system, the main line connection is formed a circular or ring like shape, where the sub-main and branches are connected cross wise to the mains and from each other, is ideal for reliable town and well planned streets and roads.
iv) Radial distribution system : In this system, the whole area is divided into possible number of distribution districts where a centrally located reservoir is located from which pipelines are radially runs towrads the peripherry of the area.
