Codependency is a set of behavioral conditions which may apply to a relationship dynamic where one individual enables the addiction, poor mental state and/or poor achievements of another individual. codependency usually occurs because of a deficit in self esteem and a lack of sense of self identity. The individual depends on the other person in the relationship for approval for things and decisions which can be very serious and also very unimportant at times. the interesting fact about codependent individuals is that in many cases one of the individuals is having an insight about the situation but is not able to and counter and address the problem anyway which may lead into for the stress and anxiety and this is it can lead to defence mechanism which may be destructive in nature such as substance abuse.

Codependency can be avoided by prioritising selfcare and taking care of one's own needs. Individuals should remember that we are only responsible for our own actions and behaviours and cannot make choices for others. It is not wrong to to see the approval from the partner in a relationship; it must be made sure of that once own ideas are being respected.
