Explain the concept of modulation. b-) Explain the reasons for the modulation. c-) Classify the modulation and write the usage places. d-) Write down the factors that cause a loss in modulation circuits
Question
Answer : MODULATION
Modulation is define as the process of shifting of base band signal to pass band signal .It is performed at the transmitting end of the communication system, because at the receiving end we need the original base band signal .Therefore in the basically we always fine transmitter consist of modulator and receiver consist of demodulator.
Reasons for modulation
1.Simultaneous transmission of severe signals
2.To reduce noise and interferences
3.To overcome equipment limitations
4.Exchange of power and bandwidth
5.To reduce antenna heights
6.To increase radiation efficiency
Classification of modulation
Modulation is classified as
1. Continuous wave modulation
a.Amplitude modulation
b.Angle modulation
i) Frequency modulation
ii) Phase modulation
Application
1.AM Radios
2.CB radio to relay shipment progress,
3.Cell phones and walkie-talkies
4.Military also uses this to communicate with other soldiers .
2. Pulse modulation
a.Digital modulation
i) Pulse code modulation
b. Analog modulation
i) P A M
ii) P D M
iii) P D M
Applications
1.Telecommunications
2.Voltage regulation
3.Power delivery
4.Amplification
5.Used as A D C
Switching and conduction losses are occur in modulating circuits due to energy consumption of device
