Previously you looked at WalMart's failure in Germany. This week, let's look at a successful US multi-national - McDonald's. Find and summarize an article discussing how McDonald's has been so successful in developing markets...specifically look at the Soviet Union in the 80's or China more recently.
Macdonald is a global leader in food and burger segment. It has highly sophisticated business plan as well as vision to create substantial value for its business. In an Article namely, "McDonald’s to double number of China restaurants”. It was highlighted that How it has positioned well in world's largest consumer market. The success of Macdonald can be summarised into following points:
1) It is penetrating China’s less-developed urban areas.
2) It has positioned itself as cheap alternative to rival fast-food brands.
3) It has adopted the business model of selling franchise operations which reduces its effort in local positioning.
4) It has focus to cultivate a perception of cleanliness and safety in China's consumer market.
5) Implemented the Chinese taste into its menu as per local culture and customs.
