Our Team was especially known in the Company for being the most diverse team owing to the employees hailing from different cultural backgrounds. Apart from the Whites, we had Blacks and Asians too such as we had one Team member from India, who was good at Program coding, one from Nigeria who was good at organizing the Team activities in a systematic way, etc. Moreover, the diversity also comprised of the male to female ratio where we rather had more females in our Team than the Males. In order to create a positive climate at our Company, I as the Team Leader strived to exploit as much of benefits as possible by working together amicably with this multicultural workforce. We rather adopted active diversity management in the Team and posed as an example for the rest of the Teams to essential create an ambience for working efficiently in a multicultural set up. We requested the HR to conduct various Training Programs in order to acknowledge and further tap the attributes of a multicultural group. We always ensured to respect the individual differences, especially when there is a generation gap in our team such as the Baby boomers working with the Millenials or males working with the female workforce. Various social events were also urged by our Team to be convened in the Organization that could help understanding the diverse individuals better. Thus this is how a positive climate was created.
As a Team leader, I had a crucial responsibility of leading my Team. Hence, irrespective of the culturally diversified members in our group, each of them were expected to deliver positive and constructive results in the Team. Accordingly, I set certain benchmark for them to assess their performances within the framework of their job profiles. Each of them were given tasks with deadlines to be finished and submitted on time with the view to help the Team perform efficiently in achieving the overall Company’s goals. It was hence the time where our peers were accountable for results.
