describe how the presence of possible outliers might
be identified on
histograms
dotplots
stem-and-leaf displays
box-and-whisker plots
(i) Histograms:
The isolated bars if any seen on the left side will indicate outlier on the lower side.
The isolated bars if any seen on the right side will indicate outlier on the upper side.
(ii) Dotplots:
The isolated dots if any seen on the left side will indicate outlier on the lower side.
The isolated dots if any seen on the right side will indicate outlier on the upper side.
(iii) stem-and-leaf displays
The isolated values if any seen on the left side will indicate outlier on the lower side.
The isolated vales if any seen on the right side will indicate outlier on the upper side.
(iv)
box-and-whisker plots :
The box-and-whisker plots displys the 5 Point summary of the given data: Minimum Value, Q1, Q2, Q3, Maximum value. In the given box-and-whisker plot, if isolated points are seen below Q1, those are the outliers on lower side. In the given box-and-whisker plot, if isolated points are seen above Q3, those are the outliers on upper side.
