Federal Trade commission was established with an aim to protect consumers and promote competition and innovation. It develops policy and research tools throughout hearings, workshops and conferences. The commission has made collaborations with law inforcement parntners across the countries in order to achieve its aims. The thus focuses on elements like pricing and and unfair practices adopted by the traders in order to ensure that consumer interests are protected . With the outbreak of corona pandemic, there are new problems like corona virus scams and privacy concerns in teleconference with law makers.There are mainly three categories of consumer protection issues relating to the pandemic; 1) bogus cures or prevention methods for the corona virus 2) scams involving confusion over government programs and 3) imposter robo-call scams.The federation trading commission has sent a more than dozen warning letters in order to stop robo-call scams. It has succeeded to a great extent too by alerting the people to hang up on robo calls.commision has also challenged the advertising for ' thrive' supplement which claimed that it can treat, prevent or reduce the risks associated with COVID-19. In response to the complainant, the California based marketer of the supplement has agreed to a preliminary order barring him from making such deceptive claims. The federal reserve commission has also decided to conduct a webinar on 19th May inorder to spread awareness about how advocates can help to deal with corona virus scams.
