Research the following four federal agencies: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Provide one real world example of an entity that each agency regulates.
SEC
SEC is meant to oversee financial and investment market in the USA. Their task is to make sure that individuals, organization, brokerages and other financial firms operate without corruption and deceptive methods. One of the organizations that they monitor is Wells Fargo. They are one of the largest financial institute in USA.
EPA
EPA is responsible to make sure that businesses and organization follow the laws and regulations that are meant to protect the environment. One of the organizations that EPA monitors closely are the organizations in mining and extraction industry. One such example is Freeport-McMoRan, one of the top mining organization in USA.
OSHA
OSHA is regulator for ensuring that the workplace environment for all workers in USA is safe a free of hazardous components. In case the work is dangerous, OSHA guidelines require certain procedure and process to be followed. One of the organizations that OSHA had fined in the recent years is Aspen Heights (in 2015) for violation of the safety regulations.
CPSC
CPSC is in charge of making sure that the products that are launched into the market in USA does not bear an unreasonable risk of injury. They also perform research and work closely with many of the equipment manufacturers. One example of such organization is Amazon. CPSC also monitor online shops for potentially dangerous consumer products.
