Determine the resultant couple moment acting on the beam. Solve the problem two ways: (a) sum moments about point O; and (b) sum moments about point A.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution

(a) sum moments about point O

+ M=8cos45°(1.8)+8sin45°(0.3)+2cos30°(1.8)-2sin30°(0.3)

            -2cos30°(3.3)-8cos45°(3.3)=-9.69N and m=9.69KN.m

(b) sum moments about point A.

MR=8sin45°(0.3)-8cos45°(1.5)-2cos30°(1.5)-2sin30°(0.3)

     =-9.69N  and m=9.69KN.m

ans. (a)  MR=-9.69N and m=9.69KN.m

       (b) MR=-9.69N and m=9.69KN.m
