Cite two advantages and two disadvantages of hot working and cold working notincluding from altering the strength and ductility.

Solutions

Expert Solution

ADVANTAGES OF HOT WORKING

1.All the properties like mechanical , chemical and physical properties will improve.

2.we can achieve required shape with very less effort because metal has lesser strength at higher temperature and metal will behave as a anisotropic material also.

DISADVANTAGES OF HOT WORKING

1. Applicable only for mass production work and costlier process also

2. Metal working process is to be done under high temperature so there may be a large deformation take place in metal and it leads also a poor surface finishing because of oxidation.

ADVANTAGES OF COLD WORKING

1.Surface finishing will be better because there is no any oxidation process

2.no large deformation tale place so that dimensional accuracy will maintained.

DISADVANTAGES OF COLD WORKING

1.Metal hardness will increase and it leads to brittleness

2. Cold working induced residual stress in metal so that it required heat treatment for relieve residual stress. It is costlier also.

Maximum theoretical percent from crystallization when given solubilities in hot and cold water
The solubility of acetanilide in hot water (5.5g/100ml at 100℃) is not very great, and its solubility in cold water (.53g/100ml at 0℃) is still significant. What is the maximum theoretical percent recovery from the crystallization of 5g of acetanilide from 100ml of water (assuming the solution is chilled to 0℃ for filtration).
