How does Dr. Giorgi's qualitative method in phenomonology compare to quantitative research methodologies (be as detailed as possible, need 300 words please with a reference)
The goal of qualitative phenomenological research the first structural analysis is intended to take the participants’ lifeworld as its starting point. Done according to the phenomenological approach of Giorgi (1985) and later developed in more detail (Giorgi & Giorgi 2003). It describes a "lived experience" of a phenomenon. As this is a qualitative analysis of narrative data, methods to analyze its data are quite different from more traditional or quantitative methods of research where we use statistical analysis of data to draw inferences. The data collection methods vary using unstructured or semi-structured techniques such as the focus groups (group discussions), individual interviews, and participation/observations. The sample size is typically small, and respondents are selected to fulfill a given quota. This type of research is used to form a hypothesis that can be later checked by the quantitative work.
The Quantitative Research is used to quantify the problem by way of generating numerical data; which is analyzed by statistics to generalize the results from a larger sample population. The quantitative data collection methods include various forms of surveys, online polls, and systematic observations.
