Values of mental health care:
• Respect and trust: Treating all individuals equally with respect.
Honouring the patient’s views and ideas and being flexible and
fulfilling the patients desires.
• Resilience: Providing care according to the culture and values.
Improving the health by using opportunities and learning from the
challenges.
• Responsibility: The information provided to the patients should
be of high quality and evidence based. Taking up opportunities that
will lead to a positive change.
• Reflection and action: Working and collaborating with others to
provide culturally and sound and meaningful mental health
information. Making well informed decisions and using implications
of mental health research.
• Unity and diversity: Improve the mental health by promoting the
human rights of people including the patients with mental
illness.
Philosophy of mental health:
It is an interdisciplinary approach of the philosophy of mind,
psychology, neuroscience and moral philosophy. A better
understanding reveals that philosophical injury is continuous with
good mental health care in response to genuine and deep conceptual
complexity.
