What is a Pugh Matrix? How are the results used? What are the resource requirements?
Pugh matrix (also known as Pugh method or Pugh analysis) is a tool to utilise a disciplined and teamwork process in order to generate ideas and selecting the most suited idea among them. This is further used to list the strength and weakness of the topic against a reference point which is called as the datum or the base.
How to use? It is used in a team a where everyone makes their own pugh matrix and then the in a team, Pugh matrices are compared.
Uses of a Pugh Matrix:
1. To compare various aspects and SWOT for a given topic.
2. To choose among the best alternative out of many options available.
How are the results used?
The results are used as input to decision making process or team who analyse the matrix results and make a decision based on the feasibility of a plan.
How does a pugh matric look?
In a pugh matrix, every individual marks his rating of the parameter against the base parameter (often Zero) and then the matrix is analysed for feasibility and decision making.
Resource requirements:
A team to brainstorm, a room to set up a meeting, factors of analysis and datum.
