Human resource planning is the process in which HR tries to identify the current and future need of human resource for the organization. There are several steps involved in this planning process which are mentioned below:-

Identify current human resource capacity within the organization:- In this identification HR gets to know about the pros or we can se the advantages of the human resource which are currently presented in the organization like skills, abilities which are the strength for any organization. HR need to nourish these talents or resources by providing a solution to there grievances.

Forecast future HR requirement:- It is very important to understand that what is the need for future by HR so through technologies and trends they try to analyze what kind of skills abilities is lacking and is requires in future in order to achieve the organizational goal.

Identify the gaps:- HR should be able to identify the gaps between the current human resource present and future human resource required so that coordination is maintained within the work and cost doesn’t exceeds. Further upskilling the current resource may get not useful sometimes so instead of upskilling, new recruitment and finding new talents will be beneficial for the company.

Integrate the plan with your organizations overall strategy:- After identifying the gaps and identifying the future and current resource Integrated strategy is to be implemented so that coordination in work is maintained and organizational objective can be achieved.

Method for forecasting HR requirement are:-

Ratio- trend analysis:- Calculation is done on the basis of past data through extrapolation which is the extension of past data. Demand for the human resource can be identified through ratios.

Mathematical models:- There several mathematical models which HR can get to know the requirements for the organization like Employment trends, replacement needs, productivity.

Work study method :- it helps in identifying standard time for per unit work which should not be changed and should remain same for manual jobs.
