What are bonding theories and how do they relate to the lewis model?

Bonding theories are the ones which describe the way a bond is formed. Valence bond theory is the most relevant here, which states that when two atoms of different electronegativity come together they form a bond by sharing a pair of electrons in between them. The electrons can be more closer to one atom than the other depending upon the difference in electronegativity, or may be equally shared in the center. In molecular orbital theory, valence shell orbitals are involved in showing the formation of bonds. The valence orbitals of the two atoms are drawn and the molecula orbitals of the formed molecule is shown in the center of the two sets of atomic orbitals. Lewis model is representation of molecules or species in sucb a way that the bonding electrons are shown as dots. The shared pair of electrons are placed between two atoms as two dots and the lone pair of electrons are located on the sides of the atoms to which it belongs. The overall electron count around each atom must satisfy the octet, that a total of 8 e-'s around an atom.
