What are the psycho-cultural, microsocial and macrosocial roots of violence in America?
Violence usually has its roots embedded in the cultural history of a society, current social conditions or in some cases, both. Genocide and mass killing is something that has been deeply embedded in the historical context of the States. Difficult life conditions have been closely linked to the youth propagating destructive ideas since the immense energy is not channelized into productive units. Increase in youth violence especially can be attributed to the difficult life circumstances that they are subjected to at the hands of issues like poverty and discrimination against minority groups. This has an impact on parenting and family life and influences the youth in destructive ways due to the hardships that they face. In fact, the role of unfulfilled or frustrated basic human needs has been recognised in terms of impacting the societal structure and functioning. From an ecological perspective, this plays a negative impact on the family life, thus inculcating the incorrect/unethical values in youngsters with an attitude of revenge.
