Analyze your own temperament. Indicate whether your temperament is better explained by the Chess and Thomas or the Rothbart and Bates approach. Also indicate how stable your temperament has been over the course of your development, and what factors may have contributed to this stability or lack of stability
My temperament has been observed to be primarily phlegmatic. It is a stable kind of temperament and is also very common. It is characterized by being low key, calm and passive. I always had a tendency o go with the flow without being assertive. Others have found me to be trustworthy and never seeking hostility. Since childhood, I have been emotionally controlled and well behaved, with care and concern for others. I have found my temperament to be stable for the early phase of my life and I feel that it has developed to being more phlegmatic. This is because, the rewards of my phlegmatic characteristics have reinforced me to unconsciously develop the characteristics further. My agreeable and empathic character has let me get along well with others and keep my relationships strong. But I have felt at times that, being considerate about others and controlling my emotions to avoid hostile environments often put me in depressive moods, often making me vulnerable to develop a secondary melancholic temperament.
