The process of setting targets and goals is known as goal setting. Goal settings provides a number of benefits to an organisation and its employees by greatly improving performance levels because of the following:

?Helps in efficient time management

?Helps in maximum utilisation of organization resources

?Helps in evaluation and measurement of their actions

Feedback on performance has a great impact on the competence and intrinsic motivation. It motivates employees to improve their job performance by enhancing ability, encouraging efforts and acknowledging results. Providing effective feedback also reduces the chances of mistakes, enhance performance and increase efficiency of the organization. Managers should deliver effective feedback for the performance of their employees by:

? Keeping a regular check on their work progress

? holding regular meetings after the achievement of particular goal to discuss the success and mistakes if any

? performance feedback if delivered in the forms of rewards or bonuses increases the probablity of future success on the part of employees as it act as a motivation for them.

Two ways for rewarding performance:

1. Praising publicly for the achievements of the employee will not only motivate him/her for future success but also lead him to increase his creativity to achieve further tasks innovatively.

2. Set series of smaller rewards throughout the year to motivate ongoing performance excellence.

Two effective strategies for improving performance of employees:

1. Provide training- employees will perform better if they are provided with effective required skills to carry out their job efficiently. Training also helps the employees to remain motivated by showing them they are the valuable assests of the organization.

2. Praise for good work and providing proper equipmentsand tools to ensure the safety of the job.
