how would you define and describe the function of DNA within our bodies?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans

DNA ( deoxyribonucleic acid) can be compared to the blueprint of our body. DNA in our body cells, store information regarding body for a longer time for development and function of the living body. It contains an instruction to construct a component of cells such as protein, RNA molecules. A segment of DNA which carry genetic information called genes.

The major function(Encoding information) of DNA to encode a sequence of amino acid residue in protein using genetic codes. For reading(gene expression) of genetic code cell make a copy of DNA from stretch of DNA which is known as m-RNA(transcription). This mRNA copy used to direct synthesis of protein in cell(translation).

Each stand of DNA double helix act as a template which allows to synthesize new double-stranded DNA(Replication) Enzyme DNA polymerase assist in this process.

Mutation and recombination: these are processed which forms new genetic makeup, so play a crucial role in the evolution of the organism.
