How would a biological psychologist study human behavior?
Psychology is the study of human behavior and its mental processes. Psychology has been the result from various study on different subjects such as philosophy, biology, sociology, anthropology, medical science etc.
A biological psychologist is the one whose focus is on to the studying the human nervous system, brain and its activities related to thinking patterns, development of intelligence, feeling sensation, perception etc. Rene Descartes, a philosopher, also called as first biopsychologist believed that the pineal gland is where the body and the mind meet. He also formed models and theories regarding the effect of bodily fluids' pneumatics in human reflexes and motor behavior. The study on brain includes the components study such as lobes(Frontal, Temporal, Occiptal, Parietal).
The biological psychologist study human behavior through following ways : -
1. Biological underpinings on several hormones, neurotransmitters such as Dopamine for Schizophrenia disorders, Acetylcholine for Alzheimer's disease etc.
2. Hereditary Study e.g. Twin - Monozygotic and Dizygotic, Gender based comparisons etc
3. Neural networks study as used in Artificial Intelligence
4. Medical tools such as EEG, Brain scans, etc.
