Multiplexing/demultiplexing
Multiplexing is the process of sending several signals at the same time using MUX or Multiplexer. Multiplexer is a logic circuit that accepts several data imputs and allows only one of them to be recieved at the output. The selection of the desired input to output is controlled by the binary select inputs.
There are 2 input multiplexers,4 input multiplexers etc which accepts 2 and 4 inputs respectively.
Multiplexing is used in networking and analog radio transmission so that one device can send signals to another device without having a dedicated connection.
The different techniques used in Multiplexing are
All these methods uses different mediums to sent signals over the shared medium.
FDM uses variation of frequencies. TDM uses different time slots, CDM uses identifying codes and WDM uses wavelength as the medium.
The main applications of Multiplexing is in telephony, analog broadcasting and Digital broadcasting.
