◆ metabolism of ethanlol by alcohol dehydrogenase
:-
- refer TABLE 1
- when the concentration of ethanol is high then ethanol is
oxidised by MEOS into acetaldehyde after tgat it is converted into
acetate in the presence of aldehyde dehydrogenase and NADPH is
converted into oxidised NADP+ in both reaction .
- When concentration of ethanol is low than it is oxidised into
acetaldehyde during this reaction NAD+ is converted into NADH and
further acetaldehyde changes into acetate .
◆ effect on changing the NAD+ / NADH :-. 【
REFER TABLE 2 】
- when the concentration of NADH / NAD+ increases
then
- gluconeogenesis is inhibited and increase the
process of glycolysis this leads to severe hypoglycemia or loss of
conciousness
- increase concentration of pyruvate and converted into
lactate this leads to lactic acidosis
- decrease fat breakdown and increase fat synthesis leads
to fatty liver .
