What has an orginzation or a public agency( ie law enforcement)
done or what can they do to increase organizational
ethical performance?
When people from different region and background come together on the common platform and work towards the predefined goals is known as organisation. And for the working of this organisation, it is very important to have a code of ethics and the principles that are used to guide the organization in its decisions, programs, and policies.
1. One way to improve ethical performance is by giving more power to the employees to take a decision, in this way they feel more confident and trustworthy and likely to justify the trust organization has. Empowerment can produce a better result for the employees. It gives employees a reason to work more ethically and to be more creative and thus results in the efficiency of the organization.
2.The organization should enforce consequences for violation of ethics policy and it should be same for each and every employee. The organization should assign a manager for this and there should be a proper record of all the discipline.
3. The organization can improve the ethical performance by improving the communication policies and the method so that the information flows in the correct direction and effectively. For example- a manager should be assigned to train all the employees so that at the time while decision making all the employees should make the same decision.
4. After the enforcement of the policies still, there must be some unethical behaviour. To overcome all these challenges, the organization must come with some new changes and implement all those instantly for the ethical performance of the organization.
5.The organization should measure and reward the ethical conduct. A proper committee should be there which will be assessing and rewarding the ethical conduct. By this, all the employees will be more focused towards the ethical behaviour and eventually boost the ethical performance of the organization.
6.Managers or leaders play a very important role in the ethical performance of the organization. If managers or leaders are trustworthy and are in shape so it will motivate the rest of the employees to be in the same standard as of their managers. Most of the problems arise when the managers are not performing the work in ethical ways, so the organization has to ensure that all leaders or manager should be ethically correct.
