Practically list out the problems due to improper design of pavement and explain the alternative solution to
support the design of pavement.

Problems due to improper design of pavements :

1. Surface deformation : it is the main problem occurs in pavements. If design of pavements is not done properly, when vehicles moves on this week pavements then there is definitely surface deformation occurs.ex: rutting

2. Creaking : there are several types of creakings like fatigue, longitudinal, transverse, edge creakings.

3. Surface defects : it is the problem of pavement. Ex : bleeding, patches,potholes.

4. Entry of water into the pavements.

5. Scaling of concrete in case of rigid pavements. (pealing off top layer of concrete surface)

6. Mud pumping : soil sullrry comes out of the existing pavement.

Solution for pavement problem :

1. Bituminous surface treatment : it is thin protective wearing surface that is applied pavement. It's protect the underlying pavement and improve skid resistance.

2. Asphalt overlay : it is a method of applying new layer of asphalt to an existing layer.

3. Slurry seals, crack seals :

a) slurry seals are used to fill existing surface pavement defects

b) creak seals are used to fill individual pavement creaks.
