Coping with the death of a loved one is very stressful. A person experiences immense bereavement and it causes a major life crisis.
Basically there are five stages of grief. These are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. This final of acceptance is what leads to realisation of the fact that the loved one is no more present in the world, and that their feelings need to be respected.
In this phase people develop healthy ways of coping such as helping others. Helping others would definitely heal and support others who are struggling with death. Not only this, it would also heal the person's grief as he/she would be able to help people in similar conditions to which he/she lost a loved one.
Hence, a person who lost a loved one to illness inspire to become a physician. If the medicines prescribed by him/her saves a life, it would bring happiness to the person not only for the obvious reason but also because he/she would be able to relate each case with their own personal loss.
This is a healthy way of coping with ones loss and the emotions of grief.
