3.gastric obstruction

4. esophageal cancer

5. administering to GI tract to do contrast study

Pre procedure: -the patient be reassured - explain the procedure intra procedure -position them comfortably -ask the patient to keep swallowing post procedure:- - confirm it is in the stomach itself by auscultation -fix it securely	- ryle's tube inserted - medicines and food can be given through the tube

client education:-

- be careful not to pull it out

-if bleeding or breathing difficulty pull it out

-never try to introduce it yourself

potential complications:-

- inserting into trachea

- trauma to naso pharynx, pharynx and esophagus
