Human Resource Management (HRM) is the effective management of human resources of an organization. It includes the process of recruitment,selection,placement,training and development,performance appraisals and so on.
Their functions are concerned in managerial,operational and advisory functions.
The one of the most important function of management is the staffing function. Staffing function is a combination of many functions like recruitment and selection,training and development,managing the employee relationships,motivating the employees ,providing incentives and compensation,etc.which are all concerned with human resource management.
In my opinion the most important function of HRM is the recruitment and selection of employees of an organization.
Without people or personnels,organisations are empty entities which cannot move a bit in the achievement of their objectives.So selecting the most appropriate individuals having the required skill and knowledge is the most important function of HRM.These recruitment of employees can be made from internal sources or external sources by considering the cost, time and other factors.
The other functions like training and development ,performance appraisal,maintaining employee relationship becomes effective only when recruitment and selection process is appropriate.
