Is interteam conflict bad? Or do you believe that "because conflict is both inevitable and potentially highly constructive, organizations should become conflict-positive" (Tjosvold, 2008, p. 19)? Use the reference information to locate the Tjosvold (2008) article in the library, then discuss whether you agree with Tjosvold's points. Reference Tjosvold, D. (2008). The conflict-positive organization: It depends on us. Journal of Organizational Behavior, 29(1), 19-28.
In my opinion, inter-team conflicts are not bad in fact it is
appositive sign that the team members are open to express their
opinion and disagreement rather than being the part in the group
thinking which is a negative phenomenon as it reduced the chance of
constructive thinking. Whenever there will be a conflict among the
team members, they will discuss the various aspects of the issue
under conflict. This will bring new ideas and thinking to the team.
The situation of conflict can bring the various methods of doing
things differently.
These conflicts can be utilized by the management in order to
improve the existing practices and the feeling of rivalry and
competition among the team members will help the team and the
organization to improve its efficiency and this can, in fact, be an
opportunity for the management to improve group cohesiveness.
Whenever there will be some kinds of conflicts, the team members
will discuss their solutions, provide their inputs and try to
convince the others. This is a good sign for the organization as it
will bring good ideas, methods of doing things differently and a
group cohesiveness and democracy in the organization . Thus in my
option , group conflicts are not bad in fact the organization needs
to be conflict positive to deal with these situations.
