Explain the process of “validation”, which is used when developing a model of an engineering system?
Validation is the process of validate the actual product. The objective of validation is to ensure that all manufacturing steps result in a product that meets the requirements of stable and reproductible way.
Manufacturing processes are not static.Temparatures change, raw materials can vary, machine parts deteriorate. That is why it is not enough to simply design a process and continue to use it without further monitoring.Validation involves closely scrutinising and documenting every stage of developing a engineering model. This includes checking of the process itself, checking the systems that run the manufacturing processes and checking the physical equipments.Validation is performed on an iterative basis on every produced engineering element during development of a model.
Simulation model is on mostly used validation techique which compare the simulation ouput with the real system output. One another technique of validation is validating the existing system. It uses real-world inputs of model to compare its output with that of the real-world inputs of the real systems. Basically in validation process two results are compared. The process compares the representation of conceptual model to the real system. If comparision is true, then it is valid, else invalid.
Using the validation process,Validation engineers can quickly identify the problems. They can also quickly identify the main cause and source of a problem. This makes the correcting issue much more efficient in developing a enginnering system model.Thuse validation minimises machine downtime and improves productivity.
